They say everything comes back, and what was once popular will be popular again. I have heard it says that the fashion world revolves in ten year cycles, and I think I can agree with that to a degree. But that is neither here nor there. For this article I am planning on focusing on one particular style that I have begun to love and seems to be becoming more and more popular among the twenty-somethings. I’m talking about Rockabilly/Psychobilly clothing and accessories.

This style is defined as 1950’s motorcycle chic or 1950’s zombie chic. The women emulate the Pin-ups of the 50’s like Bettie Page and Marilyn Monroe with a decidedly more bad-ass twist. May of the women have full arm tattoos, piercings, and oddly dyed hair, but it is all done in a classy sort of way that screams retro glamor. The men follow a more streamlined motorcycle look, with vintage jackets, suspenders, and fedoras, complete with tattoos and piercings and slicked back hair.

Personally, I love this look on women and men. It harkens back to a simpler age where hair bows, classic sex appeal, and a clean appearance were the rage. I am especially fond of the hair styles that seem to becoming more popular. Youtube is full of rockabilly hair tutorials. My personal favorites are CherryDollface and ClassicRetroGlamor. They seem to make it easier for those of us who are just learning about the look and becoming more and more interested in it.

Like I said, it is a beautiful style of dress and manner and I am sincerely quite interested in it. I’m going to be watching this style closely and I am going to predict right now that within the next year you will see it more and more in the popular culture foreground. Rock on!
